I can’t imagine too many things that are creepier to have running around in your home than stinkin’ centipedes. Yuck! These scary little freaks of nature are spiny, creepy, and fast. I hate to admit it, but I had my own really bad infestation problem about a year ago, and was totally desperate to get rid of centipedes for plenty of reasons. My kids and my sanity were at the top of this list.
In retrospect, our centipede problem went on for way too long. Months and months. When we finally decided to get proactive and get rid of centipedes for good, we were up to well over half a dozen centipede sightings nightly. It was completely ridiculous. Hopefully your situation isn’t that bad. Regardless, I’m sure you’d like to get rid of centipedes just as much as I did.
The challenge I personally had was that neither my wife or I considered extermination as an effective solution. This included fumigation, pest control people, and insecticides of any kind. First of all, we had our one year old son who obviously loved to get into everything. Traces of poison around the baseboards and in other various locations throughout the living environment was a far greater risk than we were willing to take.
Moreover, we had heard from our great friends (who had recently called in the bug people themselves) that the results these methods offer were only temporary, and require an ongoing investment to keep the centipedes away for good… this could get expensive!
Still, something had to be done. Fortunately, we learned a way to get rid of house centipedes that was not only safe, inexpensive, and fast, but also 100% permanent in nature! It came down to understanding the primary cause of our centipede infestation, which is crazy simple, yet totally true. Here it is… the centipedes totally DUG our home! They loved it. They had plenty to eat and drink, and loads of comfortable hiding spots to give them privacy and keep them safe.
Our plan of attack was crystal clear. We needed to make them HATE our house!
So we took away all of their creature comforts. We transformed our home into the kind of place that centipedes find totally disagreeable. We dried up the water. We blocked off key entry points and hiding places. We took away their food supply. We learned all the specifics in a great e-book that our friends recommended to us. It was so powerful that my household has been centipede-free going on 11 months now, and they began to disappear immediately after I got my hands on that e-book.
Perhaps you are where I was, and are desperate to get rid of centipedes fast. All I can tell you is to not let that desperation lead you into a bad decision. From everything I’ve seen, extermination is a bad decision. By simply removing their food and water, and sealing off all the places in which they like to hide, sleep, and breed, you can get permanent results that begin to happen for you immediately.
By the way, if you would like access to the exact same strategy that my family and I used to get rid of centipedes nearly 11 months ago (without even a single centipede sighting since), go here: Get Rid of Centipedes
