Finding the Right Nightstand

 

Often when you are choosing bedroom furniture, the choices in a nightstand may be overlooked. You are thinking of the larger items, the antique bed, single white wardrobe and aged dresser. If you are buying you bedroom furniture in a set, a nightstand will come with it and you will think nothing more of it. However, when you give this piece a second glance, you may find that you want to go with another option.

The nightstand that you will get with a bedroom set will be very boring. There will be a singe drawer and a lower shelf. That shelf collects dust and nothing more. They are the right height for a reading lamp, which is practical, but where is the fun? This little piece can be a lot of fun, or it can not be.

Put aside thoughts of that white wardrobe and think again of the night stand. It can be beautiful and functioning, not just existing. You can get something that is larger, that will hold more than your alarm clock and lamp and even your reading book if you are lucky.

You do not have to have the two nightstands on either side of the bed match, either. Think outside of the box on this one. Instead of getting a nightstand with one shallow drawer, find a small three drawer dresser. The height will be close and you can use it for more than just a surface. You can put ornate handles on the drawers for a touch of flair.

A round table is one often overlooked alternative. It will give your room more of a unique touch to it than anything else you can add. No one had a round bedside table, but why? Because we are thinking furniture must be square. Do not be a square; think literally outside of the box.
