Dog Waste Bags are a Handy Pet Supply

Now that dog waste bags are available in a neatly rolled up package, every dog owner should carry a roll with them when walking their dog; yet, when I walk around the neighborhood with my Dachshund Odie, it is evident that owners are unaware of this fact.  The tightly roll of green – or whatever color you like – set of bags are small enough to insert into your back pocket and can be quickly deployed to pick up the messy stinky stuff.

After much deliberation and research, I replaced the free plastic grocery bags with biodegradable and flushable dog pop bags.  I no longer have to search for a bag to take my Odie out for a walk only to find that I have to navigate around the tears in the bag hoping that I do not get anything on my hand.

These sturdy biodegradable bags are manufactured out of corn so that they quickly breakdown once you dispose of them down the toilet or into the garbage can.  Unlike plastic dog waste bags, which will create hard petrified poops for centuries to come, the moisture and bacteria from the waste will break down the bags for a cleaner environment.  This process takes a few days, so you don’t have to run home for a quick disposal.

Some bags have a pleasant fragrance which will mask the aroma, but if you can stand upwind and quickly cleanup your dog’s mess, there is very little odor once you close off the opening with a knot.  I found that fragrant free bags often cost less and work best for me.

Even though I still get stern looks from my neighbor with the “Please Keep Dogs Off Grass” sign, I politely wave to her with my dog waste bags in hand showing her that I do my job in cleaning up after my dog (even though he occasionally poops on her lawn).  Now if only more pet owners would take more time cleaning up after their dogs, then perhaps she can take down her sign.
